I have to admit, I love description. I can can wrapped up in describing so many details. But the truth is, you have to do it right, and depending on what you’re writing, there can be too much of a good thing.
Still, description is a big part of what defines your style, and your voice. If you love description (and are good at it) you may find an audience that is right there with you, indulging in the details. But there is a craft to detail, a skill, and the more you know about that, the better your description will be. Because you will have an understanding of what you need to accomplish and how to do it.
I have put together this book on description. It is by no means exhaustive, but I suspect you will find it helpful.
Like all books provided on here, don’t feel like you need to read it all in one go, but rather pick it up when you want to read a little, learn a little, then get back to writing.
Writing is the best way to learn about writing.
