I’m not going to make you sign up to our mailing list to get this book.
You’re not going to see a pop up begging you to join the email list.
Heck, at the time of making this book free, I don’t even HAVE a mailing list, though I might get one eventually, my goal is not to give into hard sell tactics. My goal is to help you get writing, and possibly make some money doing it.
I have been writing my whole life, studying the craft of writing for the past fifteen years, and a published author for the last six – and that’s how I make my living now.
So, you should be asking – if I’m making a living writing, why am I doing this website? Why am I sharing my knowledge?
Well, my dad was a teacher and I guess I’ve got a little of that in me. I’m not worried about you being competition – a friend of mine once taught me how to do tattoos and I was like “aren’t you worried about competition?” and he said “the customers that come to me are not the same as the ones that will go to you.”
I could have been insulted by this answer, but I quickly saw the deeper wisdom in it. He has a certain look, a certain personality, and a certain standing in the tattoo community. He, as a person, will attract a certain kind of customer. It’s the same with writing.
For example, Colleen Hoover makes big money selling her books. Even if I tried to write a book like hers, it probably wouldn’t find an audience because it is not authentically me. I have an audience because I write what I WANT to write, what I KNOW. Plus, the numbers don’t lie. If I start a series and it gets no traction, I wrap it up. I focus on what’s working.
So, I am offering some side services, not out of the goodness of my heart (although that’s in there too). I will be offering some services like designing simple book covers, some low cost line editing (much needed) by many, and hopefully some Alpha/Beta reading services.
For now, I am offering some of the wisdom I’ve gained selling on Amazon, Draft2Digital (Smash Words, Kobo, Apple Books etc.) Gumroad, amd Ream.
I am genre agnostic – you want to write about zombies? fantasy? erotica? I encourage you to do it, and hopefully I can give you some guidance along the way.
My first offering to you is a very long, very loose book on writing that covers a variety of topics. This is not all my knowledge, just tips and guidance I have gathered along the way and combined into a book that you can read at your convenience.
Do not read it like a text book or an instructional manual. Just read it, and maybe you’ll get some ideas. Make notes if you want.
I hope it helps you get started.
Because the starting point is writing. It might not be good, it might not sell, it might be something you tuck away in a drawer or a secret folder on your computer or phone, but that’s how you start.
You will be given the option to submit your name and email – this is completely optional and will not sign you up to any email lists.
